The Happy Feet incursion enhances the childcare program by promoting active play, creativity, and positive social interaction all essential for early childhood development.
A sports incursion is when trained sports coaches or specialised instructors come into the childcare centre to run fun, active, and age-appropriate physical activity sessions for the children. 1. Physical Development

Children build important motor skills such as running, jumping, throwing, balancing, and coordination. These activities support healthy growth and help children gain confidence in their bodies.

2. Social and Emotional Skills

Sports programs encourage teamwork, sharing, following instructions, and positive communication. Children learn how to take turns, encourage their peers, and feel proud of their achievements.

3. Confidence and Independence

Trying new activities in a safe, supportive space helps children develop resilience and a sense of “I can do it!”

4. Inclusive and Age-Appropriate

Activities are tailored to each age group and ability level, ensuring all children can participate safely and enjoyably.

Sports incursions bring excitement and variety to the day. Children love exploring new equipment, games, and movement challenges.

Community Incursions

We are excited to share that we will be hosting a range of community incursions at the centre, including programs delivered by Manningham Council, as well as visits from local health services and emergency services. These incursions bring valuable real-world learning experiences directly to the children in a safe, familiar environment.

Community incursions are educational visits from professionals within our local community such as council educators, dental nurses, health nurses, police officers, and paramedics who come into the centre to share important knowledge, safety messages, and hands-on activities tailored to young children.

Why Are These Incursions Important?

1. Learning About Safety and Wellbeing
  • Water safety programs help children understand the basics of staying safe around water, using simple messages and fun demonstrations.
  • Police and ambulance visits introduce children to emergency helpers, teaching them about the role of first responders and how they keep our community safe.
  • Dental and health nurse incursions support children’s understanding of healthy habits, oral care, hygiene, and general wellbeing.

Manningham Council’s recycling and sustainability incursions teach children about caring for the environment, sorting waste correctly, and understanding how their actions can make a positive difference. These foundational lessons help build lifelong environmentally responsible habits.

Meeting police, paramedics, nurses, and council educators in person helps children:

  • feel comfortable with community workers,
  • understand that these adults are safe people who can help them, and
  • develop a sense of belonging and connection within their local area.

These sessions allow children to learn through hands-on experiences, storytelling, role play, and demonstrations. Because they take place at the centre, children can explore and ask questions confidently.

Community incursions enrich children’s learning across multiple areas:

  • Communication and language through conversations and questioning
  • Social-emotional development as children engage with new adults respectfully and confidently
  • Cognitive skills through problem-solving and curiosity
  • Understanding of the world by connecting classroom learning to real-world concepts

What Children Will Experience

Our Commitment

All incursions are delivered by qualified professionals and are supported by our educators, ensuring every child feels secure, included, and engaged throughout the experience.

Mandarin Classes

We incorporate Mandarin classes in our program on Fridays where the language is delivered through fun activities and many already popular preschool games – they’re all just in another language. Behind the fun lies a carefully structured program specifically designed for all age groups to learn a second language quickly and naturally. Each week new words and phrases are added and consolidated over the term. The teachers use beautiful resources and the lively sessions engage the children and room teachers in each activity. Learning a second language develops critical and creative thinking skills.
